New Ventures in Gardening

Now that we're out in the Pacific Northwest, I'm trying to figure out what grows well here and when to plant it. We only have a little space off the patio of our rental house, so I bought $15 worth of vegetable starts from a local plant sale (Seattle Tilth) and put them in the ground. Then we had hail and frost the same week. I'm not sure whether they are going to make it.

If so, our selection this year is:

  • space hybrid spinach
  • snowball cauliflower (I think)
  • umpqua broccoli
  • zefa fino fennel
  • lettuce
The planters are just there to deter our cat from using it for a litter box.
