Above: small garden in early summer. Below right: citrus and herbs on deck.Everything was done a bit late this year due to the defense. Tomatoes are coming along, but slowly. Beans as well, and cover crop of yellow clover. In the big garden, yellow summer squash, watermelon and charatais melon are growing. I also transplanted the leftover strawberries there, in the “berry plot” patch.
The fig tree is nearly ready to harvest at the first week of August. All plots need more good topsoil. Hopefully we can get a load delivered and then I will plant cover crops for the rest of the season.
In the pots, most things are surviving, but the citrus plants need more appropriate fertilizer, I think, because no blooms yet. The apple trees were nailed by Japanese beetles early on, but they seem to have moved on without inflicting too much damage. I killed several of them myself, so maybe they won’t be so anxious to come back.
